What's the water temp up to now?
The lake is right around summer pool. About a week ago they put in the docks, and the Corp dock and a boat are in also. Camping starts a week before Memorial Day, so until then, you can launch for free, but once camping starts there will be a fee to launch.
What's the water temp up to now?
Pymatuning Lake water temp was 51 and 54 in the bays on Tuesday. I would think that Shenango would be about the same or a few degrees warmer. Nice fish Chaunc and glad you had a great time. Going to Pymy Saturday and maybe Shenango on Sunday if rain holds off. For some strange reason my wife wants to go.. Maybe its because the walleye, crappie and gills are biting.
hey S10
are there any free public launches on shenango and whats a good bait shop in the area
from all your and chaunc's talk i better get up there and wet a line thx digler
Digler, welcome to the Pa board of crappie.com. All the launches are free right now, until the camping season begins. If your not familiar with the lake, look online at the Pa Fish Commission site, there are maps there that can be printed out, but the Corp has maps of the lake also, if you go to their office, or take a tour of the dam, and you could get one. The ones free all the time are Parkers Landing, Hartford Road Access, & Golden Run Wildlife Area, at these there are no restrooms or lighting. If using them, make sure you can lock up every thing. Parkers landing has had trailers stolen from there before, so you don't want to make it easy for theft. The bait store I use is on Rt 18 north of the causeway. After crossing the causeway, travel about 1 1/2 miles to Rutledge Road turn off, cross over heading back South on Rt 18, and it is on the right. There are some others, but if you don't have knowledge of the area, this would be the easiest one to find.
Thank you S10 checking for maps now.................maybe i'll talk the wife into this weekend.
Digler, when you stop at the bait store, just park on the side of the road, if you have your boat with you, which I'm assuming you will. Then proceed back south, and just before your on the causeway, make a right turn, and go back about a half mile. That is the campground and launch on the right. Since it isn't camping season yet, you won't have to pay a fee. There is a rangers station there, and maybe you can get a map there.
