    Default Pa Hunting license

I just got word from the Game commission that the site is down for applying for all hunting licenses. My friend tells me to wait a few days as these effects both online and store purchases.

I just check at 7:00 Pm and I am 112,000 in line. I think the Game comission has a problem!

Tried to login at 8:05 AM yesterday. System said there were over 55,000 ahead of me before I could login.
Decided to go to Walmart to purchase in person. The line was incredibly long. It went up and down all of the aisles in the sporting goods department.
There must have been over 100 people in line and it wasn't moving.
Drove over to Dunham's Sporting goods. It was 9:05 AM and they open at 9:00 AM. The line was about 30-40 people. I figured I would wait in line there.
The line didn't move for 20 minutes so I went home.
Checked the login status again when I got home. There were still over 50,000 ahead of me before I could login.
The system indicated that when it is your turn you have a 10 minute window to login or you lose your place.
Kept checking the login status throughout the day. Around 8:00 PM I was able to login. I think I was successful in getting my hunting license and anterless license.
Both licenses should be here in 10 days.
    Good thing I am retired.

At 11:00 Pm I was able to get online and renew my lifetime senior license and got my doe permit. I sent my friend (game commission worker) a message that I did get it. Perhaps I am too old and cranky and do not like change, but the old system worked fine for me. I do hope that the bugs are worked out as this is the future of their sales.
It will be interesting to see how things work out in the next few weeks.

Apparently the doe licenses went on sale online, and thats what caused the backup.
As for renewing the senior license, thats something i dont understand.
You paid to get a senior license, and then you pay each year to renew it?
Mind you i still consider Pa my home state, even though ive lived in Florida for almost 25 years.
And i still return there to hunt at our NC camp.
But just to show the difference in how different states work.
In Florida when you reach 65 years of age, you simply stop buying licenses, both hunting and fishing.
Just show an ID if you are checked is all thats required.
    Whats wrong with that system?

Senior lifetime license is free to renew. We need to go to an issuing agent to get new tags issued.

I agree with you Yobuck on not paying for a senior license. When my Dad turned 65 he got a free fishing license with lifetime trout stamp. Also if I remember corectly he did the same with his Pa hunting license. He was born in 1922. I was 16 yrs old when I bought my first Pa.fishing and hunting license and continued through 65 yrs old. I think both comissions made out well on me and really did not need the hundred plus dollars for my senior license. I buy 3 or 4 out of state fishing licenses each year and some require a fresh and salt water license. This fall I am going to Novia Scotia to fish for salmon. It is fly fishing only Cand R and a maximun release of 3 fish a day. The cost for the licenses will be over $150.00. If you want to fish in there Park system there is aditional daily fees also. This is one of my trips of a lifetime and I worked and saved all my life so I guess I should enjoy the fruits of my labor. As I poined out I am getting old and cranky!

funny the day that the new system went on line i watched a video from the game comish with the director and he was thanking everyone for using the system and saying how well it was going with just a small hicup in the morning , but how well it was running, i guess they have a different veiw of what is good and bad as usual

They sent out a post card reminding us about the new system. I got mine in the mail on Tuesday. The day after the new system started.
I wish they had tried selling the general hunting license before the antlerless licenses went on sale.
I expect problems again when the second round of antlerless licenses go on sale especially WMU's with few remaining available.
