I've been out on local reservoir 3 times in the last week. 9 inch size limit, haven't caught many keepers, the ones I did catch were in deeper water. The shallow end of the lake has a ton of 6 to 8 inch fish but the bigger ones I've caught have been spread out in 20 to 30 FOW located anywhere from 6 to 12 ft deep. Most have been skinny white crappie, only caught a couple of blacks.
You weren't fishing Joseph Sayers were you? That kind of sounds like the experiences I have had out there.
