The last day of the Pa extendend trout season is February 20 in 2022. Also there is a singe opening day of the regular season on April 2. If I remember corectly the extended season was over on March 1 for years so this is a change in regulations .
Thanks for the heads up. I need to call up the regs book and check dates.

get out and help stock, every year it's the same few guys that help stock and then you hear the complaints about the stocking , they aren't spread out , they don't put enough in , and so on. a lot of times there is only 5 or 6 guys there help[ng if that. there will be other people there but they won.t carry a bucket
Post didn’t work
Yes it did, must be a gremlin messing with you, lol.
Speaking of volunteering for the stockings, has anyone seen if volunteers are allowed this year? That has been forbidden the past 2 years due to Covid. I would like to get out to help, but if not acceptable again there will be other activities to do. It would feel good to have a few buckets of fish hanging from my arms again.
Gonefishingtoday is corect. I tried to help several times and they told me I could not do to not being on a list.???? What the Heck does being on a list have to do with covid prevention? I can stand there and watch and talk to whoever but not carry buckets of fish?

If you offered me a million dollars I am not sure I could give you a good answere to local crappie fishing. I want to try Opposum lake again after many years of not fishing it. Also the breast of Pinchot can produce crappies starting this time of year. The problem is almost all of them are very small and way to many guys fishing for them. Lake Mead, North of Hanover is a private gated comunity that has great crappie fishing in late April - May. You need to know someone to get in to fish it.
I enjoy going in Va. starting this time of year. Beaver Dam Swamp resevior near Glouchester Va. produces some big fish including many decent size crappie. As soon as the air tempetures stablize the crappie run up into the small creek. You can bank fish it and do very well. However all the locals know it and you will have a lot of friends to comunicate with. From my experiences most of the guys are friendly and willing to give everyone some fishing area in this short stretch of bank fishing. In early to mid March the water will continue to warm and the upper area of the Chickahominy will turn on with crappie and white bass. We launch from Ed Allens and go up lake about 4 or 5 miles into the creek area. Third is the spillway behind Diaschund lake. We are not alowed to bank fish but if you have a canoe or kayak you can launch at the church about a mile down stream and paddle up to the breast. I have done very well there in early April.
