First day on the ice today. Lots of bluegills and a monster crappie.
I too have a float suit. The only time I’ll go by myself is when the ice is 8” and still building in an area/ spot I’ve been fishing daily. I still spud my way out and watch for old holes from other icers that may have partially froze over. If no one else is on the ice I’m very hesitant to go on it. Most times I’ll wait til someone else shows up and we’ll walk out together. I don’t fish areas where nobody else has been on. And I have all my safety equipment with me in case someone or myself goes in. I’m always aware that no ice is totally safe. I’ve been icefishing for around 25 years now.

Nice bunch of fish. How about the over 15 inches of snow we woke up to this morning?

Like the old sportsman told the the careless fisherman, “If you’re going to continue to fish that way at least keep some bait in your pockets so maybe we’ll get a mess of fish when we pull you out!
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.S10CHEVY LIKED above post
Shaved Ice, We didn't have snow on Sunday until towards evening. But we sure had a pile of snow Monday morning.
