There's no ice so far in northcentral PA, but I've been fishing some drop offs from the bank using a drop shot rig with two ice fishing jigs tipped with worms. Was able to catch and release about 20 perch and crappies. Should be a good ice fishing season coming up at Sayers Lake (Centre County).
Nice ones!

Used to ice fish Sayers years ago. Caught alot of perch, but they were pretty small then. We ran tipups, you couldn't keep up with the flags. You could usually catch enough descent size perch to take home. We had a blast running all those flags.

Nice catch. If you want to have a get together on the ice just let us know here and we can setup a day. Always fun meeting new friends on the ice even if the fish aren’t biting like crazy. Can even have a cookout out there. Looking forward to a good ice season.

There are still a lot of small perch, especially this year because they had a HUGE spawn this year, but there are still some nice ones and as you said, it's always fun to catch them.
I will note that the size distribution on crappie has definitely improved since they put in new restrictions. Used to be a size limit of 9" min. Now it's a creel limit of 10 crappie with no more than 5 over 9". Used to be seemingly millions of 8-3/4" crappie. Now there is still a good population, but there are many more over 9" now. I'd rather be catching a bit fewer but larger fish, so it's made me happy!
And reasonable creel limits with active catch-and-release (and yes, I keep some for the table) is helping!

Chaunc- Would be happy to do so, but it looks like this is primarily a western PA group. I'll keep you informed of ice conditions here in the central part of the state and if y'all are thinking of an outing, even if it's in the western part of the state, I can try and get out there for some ice fishing.

Pafishfiend, it may seem that way, but if people think that way, then this board will never attain, what any of us would have hoped for. Some join, but then never contribute. Personally, I have tried, along with others, to make others feel welcome here. If anyone has ideas, please post it openly, or PM me personally. I get the reasoning, of why the western end of state, partially because I post the NWPAfishing reports by Darl Black. If some of you know of other online writings by others for Pa, then please post them. Would be glad to make them a sticky.
This board only works, when we all work together, to make it better.
No worries...like I said, I'll keep posting on the northcentral part of PA. So look for reports from especially Sayers Lake, but also Black Moshannon, Colyer, Faylor lakes and several of the lakes up in Potter and Tioga counties. And I'll let you know how the ice is developing. And if you give me enough notice, I can plan to join in an outing you guys do out there in the west.
Sorry...didn't mean to sound negative.
No, didn't take it as a negative, always open to others thoughts.
