    Default Welcome New Pa Members

I should have done this a long time ago. If your new to the site, you can introduce yourself here too, then us long time members can respond. Just maybe, that is why the Pa Board is quiet most of the time, but it doesn't have to be that way. There are some very knowledgeable members here, who can help others, as they chase after them elusive crappie, as they don't just bite during prespawn and during spawn.

Well it's been a while since I've been on, but I thought I would check in and tell you about my year so far.. I decided to focus most of my fishing at a local resivior aside from 2 trips to pymatuming. The resivior is close and less water to search for fish.. The max depth I found was 17 fow.. Early in the year When the ice came off I couldn't find anyone to fish with in my boat, so land fishing it was.. With a few weeks of fishing and minimal success I got very frustrated and decided to stay home until i could find someone to fish with in the boat.. The 3rd week of April I went to pymatuming with my buddy for one day and we slammed the crappie.. We fished in ankle high water along the banks and the bite lasted the entire day.. The first week of May is my annual pymatuming trip week with the same friend.. I rented a cabin and slammed the crappie all week.. After fishingn pymatuming I decided to borrow a kayak just in case I couldn't find anyone to fish with close to home. That was the best thing I ever did.. After work almost everyday from mid May to mid June it was fish on at the resivior.. By the first week of June my freezer was full and people were begging me to take them fishing..

I followed the growth of the weed beds, as the weeds came up shallow and not fishable, I found weed beds coming up in the deeper water and caught them there.. About the third week of June I was catching fish, but not in numbers.. I tried deep water, weed beds, shallows and I just couldn't find them schooled.. By the last week of June, well let's say I hung up kayak. I feel like I fished every inch of that resivior with minimal luck.. I enjoyed every bit of fishing from the last week of March until basically July. I do want to extend my fishing thru the summer.. Mid July next year I plan on booking a trip with Darl Black and hope to pickup a few pointers..

Well that is a brief summary of my year so far.. Being an avid hunter, my falls usually consist of a tree stand and a bow so fishing usually gets put on the back burner.. I may try a few fishing trips on Sunday's but we will see, I've heard great things about fall crappie so I may have to dive in..

ps the perch are finally biting in Lake Erie, west side, out walnut creek 50-55 fow.. (For those in nwpa) Find the pack.. Headboats usually won't go that far west, but seems like the perch are headed east so won't be long for a full bucket of jumbos if that is your only means..
