I just have a cheapie, so what I think wouldn't matter. You should make a post in the electronics forum. You will then know what you need to know.
Thinking of getting the Hummingbird 698 ci HD SI combo fish finder for my pontoon, anyone have any thoughts on this.

I have a very old Humminbird 100 that I bought the first year they came out. It does what I want it to. But unfornately I dropped it and I will have to buy a new one this year. Still can use it but the 17-20 foot range has a black line through it. I've had the Hmminbird and the Lowarnace and prefer the bird.
Dave, that's a good unit. I have two of the bigger ones and love them both. The only drawback to the smaller units is you don't get enuff detail as the screen is too small. It'll do the job but bigger is better.
I agree. They are great units and will do fine, but if you can afford the larger screen, do it. I recently bought a 598ci hd si and I love it. Couldn't afford the bigger screen or I would have bought one.
Check here for some images I got with my unit. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/showt...om-598ci-hd-si
I went back to the spot with fish stacked on the cribs and this what I started catching.
Wow that is amazing, thanks so much. I have to find out what the bigger one is; there are so many different ones. And of course if I can afford it. The wife already said you’re paying what to find a fish?
Thanks
Dave
I understand that HB is having some issues with the transducers as of late. I have been seeing and talking with people that have had to have the transducer replaced. I was actually considering one for my kayak but, I think I will hold off for a bit. I also agree with the larger screen if you can swing it. Good luck and tight lines
