Welcome to the board. First of all let me thank you for your service. I spent 4 years in the army and looking back wished I would have stayed in for 20 and retired.

Where is Tyrone? North, South, East, West? Knowing that will help narrow down the spots.

    Default Tyrone

I am by the Pizza Hut in Tyrone. Trying to figure out what to use as bait for crappie at Canoe Creek.

    hi,

I can help you out with where and what. I'm a fellow PA (ex-military) guy too! Got out in 2000 as a Staff Sgt from 8.5 years of active duty in the USAF.

I'm familiar with the Tyrone area (since I'm an Ore Hill, PA resident). Just gotta ask: How far do you want to drive? your answer will depend on my answer to where to fish... I could put you on great spots 5 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles (and more) from Tyrone. Canoe Creek? The State Park or the actual Canoe Creek

On what to use... you can't go wrong with crappie jigs or live bait. However, the jigs will last longer than bait!! LOL!

Glendale Lake at Prince Gallitzin State Park has excellent panfishing, including crappie. You can also head to Sayers Lake at Bald Eagle State Park, one of my personal favorites for fishing of all kinds.
