I am a avid Wally Marshall fan, have 6' thru 8 foot rods, use Zebco 11 spincast, 4 lbs line and wear them out. Used to be Galyns UL rod fan until they were bought out by Dicks, but Dick's is more into sports clothes than outdoor gear
Cheapest way to Brim fish is get a cheap cane pole. Gets out there nicely and all ya gotta do is pull the fish right up to your lap.
I don't specifically fish for brim... but sometimes my 4 year old like too... so I just use my UL for them.
Fishin' fills the time until College football season

I can only hope that I have a new favorite rod being made for spring.
I finally dropped my guard and have a hybrid rod on order. It will be my favorite length of 8 1/2' having spinning eyes and handle on a #3 wt. fly blank. ole Mike
