You could cast them with a casting bubble. It's like a bobber, but it's made out of clear plastic. Bass Pro and Cabela's carry them. Walmart might carry them as well. You could probably even use a plain ol' red and white round bobber to start. I'd recommend fly fishing, though. It's more fun than the bubble, and it's not that difficult.

Bugs in the #8-12 range would be good for bluegills. Walmart usually has a good topwater selection, as does BPS, Cabela's or any good fly shop.

Do a web search using the words "float n fly" and you'll get all kinds of information.

We use them with a casting bubble.I usually make my own. You can find the bodies and robber leg material at Janns netcraft or Barlows

You can also fish with them by flippping them on a bream pole with the line a little shorter than the pole. Works great for wading small creeks. You can pop it under the trees and bushes.

It is so much fun catching bream on a fly rod. I alternate between black and white sipdery looking things, I am pretty sure the fish don't notice when they are hitting hard.
For any Lord of the Rings fans, I warn the bream by saying "The black spider the black spider"
    o.k. cheesy but I can't help it. )
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!

Anyone recomend a good "starter" fly fishin rod? I just got into panfish fishing this spring. My "best rods" now are my Zebco 11's:D .

    Check out this thread:

    http://www.crappie.com/gr8vb3/showthread.php?t=44662

Don't get anything cheaper than the Dorber or the Scientific Angler outfits. Dorber, SA, Bass Pro and Cabela's all put out nice combos in the $60-$100 range. If you go cheaper than that, you'll regret it.

If your budget is a little higher, check out Temple Fork's NXT combos ($175) or Redington's Crosswater combos ($130)

Good luck! Bluegill on the fly rod are a lot of fun.
