    Default The River again

She don't have the biggest bream , but she might have the mostest baddest ones .....
Sure is a productive spot early in the summer for what is big bream in the river , they bed in the area about 250 yards from my job under a bridge and the best of the river bream show up in force .
Yesterday I visited it in hopes of ketchn a few crappie on my lunch break and forgot about the pouring rain thing the day before , the river was up about a foot or better and running and the crappie for sure DO NOT cooperate down there when there is current .
The good news is our muddy water thing is over and now the rain run off runs mostly clear . the water was not it's typical emerald green clear type stuff , but it was not terribly poor in the visibility venue .
I noticed lots of cruising bream on the surface picking off some sort of bugs or something on the surface when I pitched my crappie rig a bit and thunk to myself .....
why not give them bream something to remember before I trot off ....
wasted 15 minutes on the crappie and missed 2 bites I think were likely NOT crappie .....the next 45 minutes was a sling fest to say the least ....
My phone said I put 43 in my hand in 45 minutes , not shabby for an accidental ketch episode . lil red riding hood got bent pretty hard , them river bream got a bit of extra steam for sure ....
most of the fish were native bluegill and they had some burnt orange chests , only 1 hen in the mix on the bluegill and all the other sunfish were males ....
around 8 or 10 longear got in on the action as well ....
might do it again soon , they are entertaining to say the least and not bashful about bashing a tiny jig with a nibble on it .....
KABOOM is always near ....just saying
p.s. will spare ya from the entire gallery , but one thing I noticed was quite a few fish were in the very dark range , not sure why but they were looking really dark , not near as black as Skeets but darker than what I usually see in that spot ?

I ran it bare a bit as well and they still bit it , just did not hook many that way ,,,,,
my older self needs that extra second or 3 of it in them fish lips to have time to get a hook set ....
lost one to something big down there that visit and that is the last one I got in the close up image ....
darn the bad luck , it's a hardcore bream killer for sure

Nice. We have had a real string of crummy weather here in the NE, but I’m going to try the creek this Am.
