Met my fishing buddy this morning around ten .
Partly cloudy , low to mid 70’s to mid 80’s before we headed home. Complete with the normal (seems like ) 10-20 mph winds.
Water has cleared up considerably.
I took four rod combos , my two new Major Craft rods and a couple of 5’ St Croix UL’s . All spooled up with 2# test P-line . Either Floroclear or green mist CXX .
Jigs were my .5g tungsten jigs with 1” curly tail in either black or chartreuse with glitter .
I’m back to swimming jigs , giving my wrists a break from twitching.
Now the good part . I had a Randy or Skeet kind of day .
In four hours , I caught sixty five fish , including 15 shellcrackers and 3 shellcracker hybrids .
The rest were small to medium bluegills , green sunfish, and a couple of small bass .
We left them biting!
The 5’ St Croix Premier and Avid rods stole the show today . What a joy to fish these favorites of mine . I don’t fish them enough .
With the two pound P-line I was getting cast I only dreamed about with the braid I was trying to make work .
I did lose one fish that wrapped me on a log , got loose , and I finally had to break off .
I think that was the only jig I lost today .
I did retie after about four or five fish .
Best day this year , so far . My fishing buddy caught thirty including a couple of nice bass and four or five nice shellcracker.
