Default Fish a couple of spots this morning

I had about an hour and a half to fish this morning, so I headed to the town pond
The closest place to drop a line .
First time I’ve been there this year I believe.
    It’d been awhile.
I made a few casts and caught a couple small bass that had sores on their mouths .
The water was already starting to look like a polluted pond .
    Algae all over .
Check out the water in the bass picture .
I packed it in and headed to the next local water, a water reservoir about ten minutes away .
I had just about forty minutes left when I threw my first cast off the docks at the boat ramp.
Fishing a five foot Rosewood UL paired with an old Shimano Sedona 500 spooled with Daiwa J Braid , with a .5 gram tungsten jighead and shortened Bison TM .
I knew the gills around there would be small but at least the water is cleaner .
I caught ten little gills that were fun on the little rod .
I lost the biggest gill that got wrapped up in wad of old fishing line that was on one of the dock pilings . Almost has him , a colored up 6-7” incher .

Our old cow pond use to have that algae all in it. Almost impossible to fish. I’m sure getting away from that mess was welcomed. Thanks for sharing

Not a good sign this early in the season, but you are in a warm clime and the water is most likely a little polluted - run off, fertilizer, goose do do, etc.

Bob, there’s a bad goose problem that’s steadily gotten worse the past few years.
Couple that with the town dropping the pond level and the septic tank seepage, it’s a wonder the health department hasn’t made them drain it .
Some of the fish I’ve caught in last couple of years have looked pretty sick .
    It’s a shame .

What is your go to trout magnet color? Looks like that was what you had tied on.

    I really don’t have a favorite.
I swap until I find a color that works.
I like bison , Sowbug , root beer float , black , white , and the chartreuse with black one .
    Yesterday was bison .
