Overcast but warm temps with 5-10 winds met us this morning as we gathered at our first boat ramp.
The lake is still over four feet low , but it’s starting to clear up at some ramps .
I took three rods , all Abu Garcia MB3 ‘s , two 6’3” lights and a 6’ UL
Reels were all Shimano 500’s , a Soare XR spg , a Symetre, and an older model Sahara .
All were spooled with Daiwa J Braid and 4# Floroclear leaders .
I used my tungsten 4mm bead jigs with shortened Trout Magnet bodies or Mini Magnets .
I caught 29 fish total , of which , thirteen of them were crappie . Some had their black spawning colors .
Only two green fish today , seven green sunfish and the rest were small to medium bluegills.
No shellcracker today .
My buddy caught 8 including two nice bass he caught on TM’s .
The sun would peek out every once in awhile and so would a light sprinkle. Strange warm day .
That’s the most crappie in one trip I’ve caught since going to bank fishing.
If I’d been in my boat I’m sure with them on the bank scattered, I could have caught a lot more . Back in the day we’d catch a hundred .
Always a fun day of friendly competition with a good friend .
