Buy another one….lol. That’s one lure I always managed to get hung up and lose. They do make split ring pliers but I’d probably just ask someone to change it out for me if I just had the one.
Took one of my ultralight rods down to one of my ponds. Started throwing a roostertail, which did its job and put three little bass and more bluegill than I could keep count. But (you knew that was coming) I soon started missing strikes. Looked at the treble and one hook was totally gone and another bent straight back. Grabbed another one to replace the first, and examined the treble. It was rusted thin! Close examination shows that I will have to use a split ring to change the hook. I don't know if my old fat fingers can handle split rings that small. Any other ideas?

I have a pair of split ring pliers, but they are bigger and clunkier than the ones listed. I guess I will trundle down to the local shop and see if they carry something a bit smaller.
Thanks

I use a small knife blade to install my split rings on baits. It opens the split ring enough to slide a blade or anything onto it. Takes just a few seconds.
I’d just buy another. BPS sells a set of rooster tails for trout with single hooks that I like and they’re more weedless than the trebles. They’re one of my go to baits with trebles or single though, they just work.

rooster tails get bites , them treble hooks are sometimes a nightmare to get out of a fish though
