    Default Pond fishing

I just put some Varivas 3# SIGHT EDITION on my Stella and needed a place to try it out so fished a pond where I always do pretty good no matter what time of year. Never had much success in the past with hi vis line but getting older so it's getting harder to see some of the lines I had been using. This line past with flying colors. First cast and skunk is over, 8 inch crappie in hand. Catching was steady all morning and caught maybe around 40 bluegill, crappie and bass. Big fish for the day was a crappie almost 13", my biggest for this pond. I needed this confidence builder.

Still can't get over how bright this line is for such a small diameter line. I was using my duck feather float n fly jigs using a 1/24 tied on #8 sickles. Been using them a lot this winter for trout since they sink faster than what I normally use but with the small hook. Trout like fast moving baits. Worked for these fish as well but fished them much slower. Supposed to snow here today so plan on tying up a couple more dozen in this size.
