Last Spring Gillchaser mentioned one of his favorite fishing sites is next to a boat launching ramp. Shortly after, I fished a launching site that I had bypassed 50+ times. That doggone site produced crappies early, and then bluegills all through Summer.

In November he mentioned tieing and fishing black hair jigs (rabbit fur tail/black body) because the plastics bite was slowing. I liked the simplicity, bought the materials and tied some up on a 1/48 #8 BG jighead. They turned out to be the cat's meow! I fished them with a Crappie Nibble for scent and a Trout Magnet float. The December catch in five trips was 51 bluegill (a few nearly 9"). No photos (I'm 80+ and hi-tech inept). They all came from two small muni ponds.

This morning (a warm 55 for Central Ohio in February) the catch total was 13 (8 1/2" on down) on the same jig and setup with a 6 1/2' Okuma SST Trout Rod, Shimano Sedona 500 reel and 2# P-Line Fluoroclear line. Same two ponds.

So a great big thank you to Gillchaser! His ideas are adding some nice numbers onto my annual catch totals
