Default Better than a good day at work

Took Monday off for my birthday. A wise man said to make sure nobody can tell you what to do on your day. So, I planned the perfect day! But….

    missed breakfast

Started a project, realized my saw wasn’t set up right

got a flat tire on my bike

    lunch was delayed

ended my day at the pond, someone pulled out in front of me, when I hit the brakes I broke my trusty $59 Pfueger ULW Wal Mart combo

Fish weren’t biting, despite the great weather

But, all in all I got a few and proved that the old adage holds true.

so, here for a recommendation. I fish exclusively at the neighborhood pond for small panfish with a trout magnet and two pound test. Nothing relaxes me more than catching a few panfish on a rare break from the norm. What a a good $50ish rod? I can use the existing reel from my old combo.Name: IMG_2607.jpg

My favorite is a 5' Ocuma rated for 1#-4# line. Lot's of people seem to prefer longer rod though. Hard thing to find around here though it the 2# line. Love that 2# line. My reel is also a very small Ocuma Ignite it-10a. rod and reel bought separately about $40 for both!

I love my BnM TCB Leland rod. Not sure if your reel is correct for it.

    Happy Birthday!
Sorry to hear about the rod , I know the feeling .
Had a guy total my truck for me about two years ago , two favorite rods ( at the time ) were in the back . One was broken in three pieces , the other five pieces .
Recommendation for your replacement: 5’ or 5’ 6” 13 Fishing Defy Silver UL spinning rods . Nice rods for $50 .

Another vote for Leland rod (BnM TCB now). Fished with 2# line for years on it.

Boy you know how to celebrate your Birthday, hate that about the rod

HBD anyway, sounds like you salvaged a decent day out of it though

On the Rod I like all the rods that have been mentioned

Happy birthday, despite the setbacks. The colors on that pan are spectacular! I have only caught one lit up like that. What flavor of pan is that?
