    Default No Skunk today :)

I’ve been dealing with a neck pain issue for about a week , the past few days have been the worst .
I canceled out on my weekly meetup fishing trip yesterday because of it .
Sat around with either some type of rub or a heat pad on my neck and right shoulder , most of the day .
This morning it seemed to feel better if I moved around a bit .
I told my wife I was going to try and fish about an hour, after lunch .
Weather was sunny , mid fifties but with a bit of a wind out of the east , around 10mph with gusts to twenty.
I’m thinking float n jig . Figured that might be easier on the neck .
I grab a rod that I had setup for a float N jig , a 6’6” St Croix Triumph light action paired with a Shimano Nasci 500 reel and two pound Floroclear.
The jig was a 4mm tungsten bead jig with chenille collar and an olive mini trout magnet .
I got to the Town pond around 2:30 and decided to fish the east side , hoping the wind would help with casts . It did , but the east side is 80% shaded and the wind felt like a knife to my sore neck .
Thirty minutes later, I moved to the sunny end of the east side where I caught my one and only fish of the day .
A nice little bluegill that almost made the seven inch mark .
I tried the wind blown west side of the pond , but it was getting close to three thirty, the sun was already getting low and my neck was bothering me .
I headed home to my heat pad .
It was nice to get out , even if it was a pain .

one is better than none! Aches and pains may be a part of life but when it interferes with fishing.... well something has to be done! From my own personal experiance some stuff called Voltaren works wonders on such pain. It is not often I will recommend meds but I use it on my neck, shoulders, knees, back, hands. most any place that gives us older folk trouble.

No guarantee it will make you catch more but you might feel better even when not catching!

Beats nothing for sure. I went out today and caught one that looked like a twin of yours. Didn’t get another bite. Hope your neck gets to feeling better.

Thanks to all for the well wishes.
I got to thinking about what could be causing the issue .
I experienced the same pain back in July when I was doing a lot of casting in my driveway trying to get more casting distance with micro lures .
I think it’s the way I’m fishing with sub one gram lures and slinging the rod trying to get it out farther.
That and fishing almost everyday, I’m straining the trapezoid and shoulder muscles .
    Not exactly young anymore either.
I may be perfecting my float N jig and drop shot techniques for awhile.
Something I can lob cast with a little more weight at the end of the line .
Who said fishermen weren’t athletes. we get injuries too .

Sorry to hear of the neck and shoulder pain. Not fun at all. Glad it eased enough to get out, and as said, I'd rather have one than a skunk. Get better soon.
