My neck was causing problems about a year ago- happened to be spinal stenosis and bulging disks! C5-7. Pain ran all the way down both arms! Might want to get that looked at. Had surgery on mine in late August and just now fishing pain free! I would recommend a neurosurgeon instead of an arthroscopic one. Anything around the spinal column needs neurological expert. Good luck with your problem.

Fishing isn't much fun when we are hurting. It's certainly possible to injure yourself trying to get that extra casting distance. A few years back I was trying for added distance and one cast the shoulder was done, almost dropped the rod in the lake. Completely tore my rotator and bicep tendon. Rotator tendon was not reparable and they had to use a cadaver tendon to replace the rotator. Everything good now. If it's still bothering you get it checked out. I waited almost a year before I finally went and had mine checked, wish I had done it sooner.

    It’s slowly getting better.
I originally injured it back in July when I would spend hours in my driveway sling casting different combinations or rods , reels , and line .
Took a few weeks to recover.
Lately I’ve been fishing light , micro handtied jigs and chenille and rabbit fur doesn’t weigh as much as plastic bodies. So I resorted back to slinging again .
Caught fish , it paid the price .
Guess I’m going to have to go back to float fishing with my handtied jigs to have the weight needed to “lob cast” them .
I’ve been experimenting with slip float fishing using 1/32 and 1/16 slip sinkers.
I think once I perfect my method, it’ll be a great way to fish my handtied jigs and be easier on my casting shoulder and neck .
