Our high for today was at midnight last night . We had rain and storms all night !
So I’m thinking a warm rain (warm, relative to this time of year ) would not only raise the water level of the town pond , but would also warm the pond a few degrees .
64 degrees last night as the rain came in , 54 this morning.
I got to the pond around 11:15ish and by the time I walked around the pond to the shallow corner that had been productive before , it was close to 11:30 .
I fished through several periods of drizzle and sprinkles until the rain increased and ran me headed to my car about 12:45 .
The wind was surprisingly lacking with high wind predicted later as the cold front arrives.
I caught nine shellcrackers up to nine inches and an eight inch bluegill .
All on my 6’6” St Croix Avid UL , Shimano Soare XR 500spg and 2# Floroclear, using the same homemade tungsten bead streamer jig tipped with a Mini Trout Magnet body . Black on black . Tied with a size 8 Mustad streamer hook and 4mm tungsten bead head .
Got to fish when you get the opportunity this time of year even if it’s in a light drizzle.
