Weatherman threatened rain all morning.
When I got up this morning I could hear it raining outside , but I fiddled around a couple hours and had my coffee and raisin bread around nine . Looking out the window it looked like the rain had stopped, but according to the weather forecast there was an 80-100% chance of rain all day .
Radar even showed rain , but it wasn’t falling at my house .
At ten I grabbed my new 6’6” St Croix Avid light action rod rigged up with a black handtied tungsten bead jig and slip float and headed for the Town Pond , hoping I could get in an hour . Reel was a Legalis LT 1000 I had added a shallow spool to.
I fished almost three and only experienced a sprinkling once .
Fishing was still tough with only seven fish caught with three of those being bass around 11-12” .
I fished the slip float rig for a couple hours and switched to twitching a little heavier black tungsten jig . The last four fish came on this method.
The 8” shellcracker stole the show , pulling drag and putting a nice bend in the new Avid .
If I’d listened to the weatherman, I’d missed out on a good time on the water .
