    Default Winter Slip Bobber trip

Officially winter doesn’t start until next month , but the temps we’re having are what our average temps are in January.

I arrived at the town pond around a quarter after 12 today and fished until 2:30 .
    Temp was 49 when I arrived and 51 , today’s high , when I left .
I’m guessing the water temp was probably in the low forties . It’s been getting pretty cool overnight.
As long as I stayed on the sunny side of the pond , I was ok , but on the opposite side in the shade , with the wind , it was tough .
    Wind was a steady 10-21mph .

I took a couple 6’6” St Croix rods , a Premier and a Triumph, both paired with a Carbon X 1000 reels . 2# line and my micro slip float rig .

I caught three bass , two shellcracker, and a couple of bluegills .
One of the shellcracker was almost nine inches and the largest bluegill was 7 1/4” .

While fishing im constantly trying to guess the depths and adjust my float to try to get my mini trout magnet near the bottom.

    Thanks !
Since the windy , and cold weather, season has started up , it’s a way I’ve found to catch a few that doesn’t require a lot of sensitivity.
I’ve been enjoying trying to perfect my technique .
