    Default Taming the wind

I’ve been playing around with a slip float rig to use in place of a (snap on ) float n jig rig .
    I think I’ve found my rig .
I’m using a Trout Magnet float as a slip float , with bobber stop , bead , float , bead , 1/32 Worm sinker , bead , the a tiny swivel . Then I tie on about a foot of leader that I attach a jig , or fly .
This compact micro slip float rig cast great on 2# line .
    I tried 3# and 4# and didn’t get the results I wanted .

Today was a great day to try it out , with the wind at 10mph and gusts to 20 . Partly cloudy with the sun playing peek a boo all morning after a cold upper thirties last night .
It was 52 , but felt cooler with the wind .

I fished for about two hours , but caught most of the 8 bluegills and 3 shellcrackers , during the last hour , once I concentrated my efforts on a shallow flat in one corner of the dam at the Town pond .

Tackle used was a 6’6” St. Croix Triump light action rod paired with a Shimano Soare XR2000spg and 2# Floroclear. Lure was a size 10 sickle jig hook and tungsten bead , with a mini Trout Magnet in either white or dyed with chartreuse Zoom marker .

Watching a float disappear is as much fun as the thump.

Nice photos and you have a real nice setup. Yes, watching the bobber go under gets your blood going. My home creek is nothing but rocks and boulders so float fishing or slip float is my main ticket.
