    Default Windy day trip

Cold front rolled through along with a little rain. 45 degrees and 15mph winds. Only day I could fish this week so added an extra layer and hit the small lake that was stocked with trout. First cast and put a trout in the net, about 17". Wind was brutal and made setting hooks difficult, missed more hits than hookups. Ended up with 7 trout and 6 panfish but did get a couple nice redear including one fatty that broke the 10" mark and had several runs that had the reel screaming. Hadn't caught one that size all year and used the net on it. Rough day but worth it.Name: IMG_4642.jpg

Bigger one has to be a hybrid gillcracker. Looks more like a gill but fought like a redear. Catching more and more of these hybrids at this little lake.

Pretty fish. Being able to catch trout and bluegill out of a lake is good. Back in TN my son and I would hit up VFW Lake in the spring and have a ball doing same. I have a small city lake about 3 minutes from me but here in Arkansas it hasn’t been cold enough yet to stock it.

    Regards
