Sounds like a good fun trip. Thanks for sharing
Made a short trip to the Town Pond this morning.
Weather was overcast , a comfortable 61 degrees , with wind expected, but was nice during the short time I was there . Around an hour .
With cooler temps the water at the pond has cleared up except for the leaves and pinestraw everywhere.
I took my 6’6” St Croix Triumph light action rod paired with my Shimano Soare XR 500spg , spooled with 2# Floroclear.
I only took a flybox of handtied jigs, a pair of clippers , some small hemostats , and my towel .
I didn’t need the box of jigs as I used the same jig for the entire trip. A size 10 Mustad jig hook and 4.65mm Tungsten bead .
With the large guides on the Triumph, I could cast around 75-80’ .
I caught six bass and three of my favorite, shellcrackers.
Although I don’t mind the bass , I don’t discriminate about what wants to eat my jig . I enjoy their battle on light gear . Although the 6’6” SC light feels more like an UL to me . Handles fish on 2# line without any problem.
I was supposed to meet up with my fishing buddy at the big reservoir, but he’s still down with his back .

Rain came in overnight and looks like it’s going to be with us all day .
I was hoping for an hour window I could sneak up there and scratch the itch .

It's nice to take a minimalistic approach from time to time. Nice catches !
