    Default Town Pond visit 11-14-23

Warn up to around sixty by eleven o’clock this morning , sunny , but very breezy . Gusts over 25 mph .
Made casting a light jig an issue , but I needed an outing .
The pond was over a foot low , we haven’t had a lot of rain in awhile, and leaves and pinestraw was all over one side of the pond .the better casting side , dealing with the wind .
It was a good two hours spent , with sixteen fish caught , three bass , four shellcracker, and nine bluegills.
A few were pretty good size .
I fished a 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 paired with my Shimano Stradic 1000 FJ and two pound test Floroclear.
The Stradic is an old aluminum alloy framed one that weighs 7.5oz , but I didn’t notice the weight on this rod .
I’d gotten the Stradic out and cleaned it up and tuned it a little , mainly replaced the handle with one with very little play in it . Functioned perfectly for twitching hand tied jigs .
It has a sweet drag that I think Victor off of I_fish on YouTube would like . Nice loud clicks .

sounds like a great outing, I can relate on the wind, but just have to improvise and it sounds like you worked it to your advantage, Haven't been much myself due to too much "Life" going on and our pond after renovations, it is so far down, we have not had measurable rainfall in a month and 1/2, it is dry as a popcorn fart and I got brush piles that need to be taken care of before we get into rain and what-ever else season

Got some pretty fish there. Glad you got into em. Victor and the drag soundTown Pond visit 11-14-23 All I care about is that I can hear it. Of course I know a number of folks who will change the clicker out if they can, or modify it to get the sound they’re looking for.

    Regards

Thanks Randy , I’m with you with the drag sound , as long it makes a sound and is smooth .
I think it’s funny the way Victor goes overboard about how a drag sounds .
One the important things to me about a drag is how much drag is increased or decreased by the number of clicks .
I don’t want a drag that will lock down with half a turn of the drag knob . I prefer a wide range of adjustability.
I leave my drag fairly loose and will take a few more clicks off if needed . If three clicks totally loosen the drag , I don’t want it .

Very nice fish mister. I’m glad the weather behaved enough for you to go. I’m out near Arkadelphia,Ar. chasing deer and it’s a hunt camp d I’m cold but happy. Got one Monday but I never thought of heat as an option. These folks do. Ready to be home where I can be warm.
