    Default Weekly Meet up 10-27-23

My buddy and I were finally able to find a day where we both were able to go fishing .
We were rewarded with a beautiful fall day to go fishing .
Cool this morning but by the time we met up , the temperature was already close to 70 and stayed in the 70’s all day . A light breeze made it almost perfect .
I took two rods , Both were Abu Garcia MB3 rods , one a 6’ UL two piece , the other a 6’3” Four piece light . Reels were a Shimano Soare XR 500sspg , and a Daiwa 2021 Presso 1000lt . Two pound test Floroclear on both .
Most of my thirty fish I caught were caught on a tiny hand tied Micro jig. Three were caught on trout magnets while trying to catch another spotted bass .
My second fish of the day was a nice spot that I saw swirl at jig and I found out once I got it in , got hooked in the head . Sharp hooks catch more fish .
You can see the jig in the picture , right behind the eye . When I touched the jig , it fell out in my hand .
My fishing bud caught a good UL spot on a Roostertail and an old 5’ UL UglyStik .
Most of our fish today were in the 4-6” size , but a lot of them were the beautiful redbreast hybrids .
I only caught one shellcracker today , about an eight incher that gave me a drag singing battle , with a couple of runs .
    A fun day !

I’m not sure Randy , I can see redbreast in them , maybe shellcracker .
I know they’re beautifully colored and fight like a shellcracker.

That was a lot of pretty things all put together. The weather, the luck and the fish. Good numbers and you can’t beat being lucky on that spot like I did on one of the big tilapia. Glad you two were able to put it all together and find some fish too.

About ten minutes later I had another spot follow a five inch gill and gave me a good look . Looked to be about a five ponder . That’s why I threw the trout magnet for about thirty minutes , hoping to hookup .
The cooler water temps are bringing the bigger fish in close .
It’s a good time to be fishing!

My SIL and I chased a school today and only got two smalls to eat what we offered. They act a lot like bass, just a worse attitude. I’m gonna have to bring something live one of these trips.
