    Default Quick trip

Haven’t had a chance to fish since last week , had granddaughters in town since Saturday.
Not complaining! They live out of state and we don’t get to see them in person but a few days a year .
Dropped them at the airport yesterday afternoon.
I usually get a chance to take them to the town pond , but the water was too green .

Wife had her hair appointment today , so I got to fish while she was getting her hair done.
About thirty minutes of actually fishing .
The lake was about eighteen inches low , my usual spot was either dry or super shallow .
I tried to coax something out from under one arm of the big dock , but no luck .
Quickly changing tactics , I went over to the small dock and jigged what rip rap still had some water on it .
First cast , I caught a small bluegill to get the skunk off .
In the next twenty minutes I caught seven small warmouth, a tiny green sunfish , and the highlight of the day a tiny spotted sunfish .
All small fish but a hoot when nothing else is biting and the clock is ticking .

Combo was a 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 paired with a Shimano Soare XR 500spg and 3# Floroclear. Jig was a black , rabbit tail and chenille simple pattern.n

    That’s the spotted sunfish .
Rare little sunfish around here . I’ve lived in the area all of my 72 years and I didn’t know they existed until last year .
They don’t grow very big .
This is the biggest I’ve caught .

Nice catches. Does the soare xr have the carbon drag washer? I was thinking about getting one but I have the complex xr and had to change the drag washer as it was wildly inconsistent with the carbon washer.

Yes , it does . I haven’t experienced any problems with carbon drag . I like the sound .
