Default Talk about a color favotite...

This lure and many others I cast have this color pattern:
    chartreuse/ black/ orange

Note: I used Spike-It dye to color white and translucent chartreuse plastic grubs.
Coincidental is that the colors are the colors of a yellow perch.
All species of fish strike lures with that color combo, so if it ain't broke, ........

The other thing I rediscovered was the tailless grub body shown above. (recently posted elsewhere)
Last week fish jumped all over it in two sizes: 1" and 1.5" rigged on a 1/32 oz jig/ #6 hook. I just found an old photo of it being used with a Beetle Spin after a fish bit off the tail. It caught fish!
Try it sometime - cut off the tail and rig it on a light jig head. No more nippers attacking the tail and not getting hooked!

    Fish caught on it:

Yesterday was another phenomenal day considering the lake level dropped even lower.
The tailless body did great catching 5 species! Mixed schools in shallow water kept me busy even with the constant 15 mph wind.It started out as a chartreuse with flakes, store-bought minnow with rear tail. I cut off the tail, added some black stripes and an orange belly and rigged it on a 1/64 oz jig.

    Depth fish caught: 2-4'.

I went bigger with a larger curl tail grub with the tail cut off. I caught fish - even small fish!

Did great today with the perch pattern grub until a pickerell bit it off on touch down. Second cast using a Beetle Spin and curl tail and it nailed it, but at least I got to fight the monster long enough until it wrapped the line around the anchor rope. Not so this beauty that measured 2' long.

Nice looking catch and loved the colors on the pickerel. They are a guided missile.
