I’ve been hoping to find a place I could go and just feel the thump from lots of fish no matter the size. Well I finally found such a place. It was right under my nose. The wife and I had been walking in a city park that has a small creek flowing through it. Well I guess it flows but it has been so dry for so long there are just some shallow holes in it right now. I commented to my wife that I bet there are fish in there. When I say shallow I’m talking 1 foot depth. Well last night I took a rod. The wife walked and I fished. The place is full of green sunfish, long ears, and largemouth. The largemouth were only about 6 inches but caught green sunfish like in the pic at will. This creek connects to the Little Red River. Really looking forward to when the rains come and it gets a lot more water. This creek runs all though town. There are numerous spots I can get to it on Harding University campus. It really felt good to feel a thump or 2, or 3 on every cast. I was using a Palms Egeria 64 XUL with a 0.5 gram jig head with a Sow Bug colored Trout Magnet. Several folks walking by stopped to see what I was catching. Many of them remarked how small the fish were. I told them I really didn’t mind that as I just enjoyed the hit. Not sure they quite understood that. Will be going there quite a bit.
