Default so many lure choices, so little time to use all of the them

Ever since are started messing around with modifying plastics and catching hundreds of fish on them, it's diffcult to chose which ones to take. Loading the box is a waste of space and time seeing as how once I start catching fish on a few lures, I'm too lazy and excited to change. Even storing unused ones is a challenge with them ending up in a clutter on the table.

Today I said (literally) enough is enough!! Instead of 6 of each lure taken, I've downsized to 2 lures of each shape/action and only 6 of of those. No point carry 6 curls tail, 6 spike tails, 6 shads tails, etc, when I only need a few of each with most lures able to catch 10 fish per lure.

Being a bank fisherman 90%+ of the time .
I got my boat out three times last year.
I try to minimize my tackle I carry to the water .
I was using an over the shoulder bag and the bag on my stool I carry most of the time .
Then I went to a smaller waist pack , that is carried over a shoulder because being old , I have no rear end to hold up a Fanny pack .
Sometimes I’ll just throw a few things in my fishing stool and do without a bag .
Lately , if it’s going to be a short trip , I just carry a flybox of jigs , line snips , hemostats, and a towel . Flybox goes in a shirt or shorts pocket , the rest clips on me somewhere.
I have a bad habit of finding a lure that’s hot , acquiring a lot of the colors I like and getting stuck on that particular lure until one day , it’s like someone turned a switch and that lure is no longer my go to lure .
Right now it’s my hand tied jigs/flies . Not the thousands I already tied over the years , they have to be tied on either a streamer hook or a particular jig hook with a tungsten bead . I’ve accumulated a lot of tackle and lures over the years .

Like bass fishing junk, most of it catches the fisherman quicker than anything else, got where I quit counting mine and started weighing it

I have to plead guilty myself. I have lots of stuff I carry, mostly in case something isn’t working and I have to go to plan B. I have lots of Plano boxes and my tackle box is a 6 gallon milk crate with a lid. Just take what I need and swap out what I don’t. Problem is the stuff is like bunnies and grows exponentially. I’ve been thinking about a light box, medium box and trolling box which is already done. Nino has done me a favor in testing a lot of baits that I’ve forgotten I had. I give him a few and he figures if I gave it to him that it must catch fish. Cuts down on the stock I’ve built up too. A few in a small bag would do me fine most days.

Today proved interesting: fewer lures caugh many fish.
Spike tails were the only lures I used in water 4' deep. I knew the lake was being lowered to work on the docks by home owners but not by this much! Fish were finicky at times and nipped at the tails. Solution: reduce the length of the grub and switch from a 1/32 oz jig to a 1/64 oz. - at least until they came to their senses LOL.
(One was caught on a pearl cone tail.)

Another was caught on a small tube:

Crappie and white perch were caught along with a few bass and yellow perch. At times I cast larger lures, but again, mostly nips. Here are a few:

Spoon, just like Gill said, us shore and bank wanderers don't have much option but try to go lighter. Watching the LRF guys in UK gave lots of idea going with just 3 most usable lures or jigs: Dropshot, jig heads, and Cheb. Since I haven't gotten the chance to fish for crappies, I don't know if the Russian-intro Cheburashka would work but it works for panfish just like jigheads would for me, while all would fit in an old 35mm film cannister. Cheers!

Man I am in this boat…too much to take so I load the boat with what I am taking the night before and unload after coming home. Otherwise I might sink!
