Sounds like a fun day. Have to place an order with skeet for more jigs Glad you were able to meet up with your buddy and catch some.
I met up with my fishing buddy at our favorite shellcracker boat ramp this morning around ten .
The weather to start was nice , low 70’s partly cloudy skies . Very little wind .
I got there about ten minutes before my fishing buddy showed up and by that time I’d already caught six little green sunfish of various colorations on a purple hand-tied jig .
I took three rods with me but only fished two of them .
First up was my 5’6” St Croix Avid ULF paired with a Shimano Soare BB 500spg and two pound test Floroclear line .
The other rod was a 6’ Abu Garcia Mass Beat iii UL , also with a 500 size Shimano Soare BB .
Both rods cast my hand tied tungsten bead jigs 45-59+ feet .
I like using the tungsten because I can create a smaller jig that has enough weight to cast with my UL’s .
Even with my size 12 streamer hooks with a 4mm bead that I use with a mini trout magnet casts 40+ feet .
I caught thirty total fish , most were small , but were enough to make this old man happy .
The temps shot up pretty quickly and since we had little wind and no shade we near the lake , we’d took a break wherever we could find a shaded spot and cool off and sat on our fishing stools and talked.
My buddy caught 21 , mostly green sunfish. BTW Skeet , my fishing bud said thanks . He caught fish on his first two casts with one of your jigs . Then he lost it .
They’ve started the fall/winter lake draw down already , and the plan this year is to drop it an extra two feet to allow work on the dam .
Fun day , catching little ones .
One of my favorite catches was what looks like a shellcracker/green sunfish hybrid .
And a couple of the bigger ones

Another good trip while I slave at the mines. Glad they’re working for you and your bud. They’re called terminal tackle and that’s their job to go where the fish live and get em interested and sometimes not come back home. I’m good with that. Have fun with the rest.

I was just checking the fish records for the lake we usually fish and this lake record caught my eye .
Shellcracker 12.64-ozs. I’m pretty sure I’ve caught one bigger than that .
I’ll need to get me a good scale and start taking it with me .
Be neat to be in a record book .
