    Default Beating the Rain

And OH ! what an hour and a half this morning.
According to the radar it looked like I would possibly have an hour or a little more before the rain from the hurricane reaches up .
We had a gully washer night before last , so I’m thinking maybe the fresh water flushed the Town Pond . And it’s only five minutes away.
Also , last week our town posted the results from the testing of the pond water and it came back negative for any deadly bacteria.

When I arrived , the water looked the best it has since spring and I didn’t see a single goose .
I only took one rod , my new 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 with a Shimano Nasci 500 and 2# Floroclear.
For tackle I took my box of newest hand ties . And I picked out a purple one to start .
On about my fourth cast I hooked into a nice bluegill , that ran under the little bridge, but with a little tension , I carefully turned him using my Abu .
In an hour and a half I caught 18 , with some of them being my best bluegills in awhile.
And all on the purple jig .
When your bluegill is bigger than your reel , it’s a nice one !

You did very well, and that’s a nice lookin box of jigs. I wasn’t rolling those dice this morning with the storm having just gone by. Some of the outer bands came through and dumped some rain and the wind got up but around here we all did OK. I’d like to have gone but there’s always tomorrow. Hope y’all don’t get anything but some rain and it doesn’t bother anything up your way. I’m hoping to find some gills like the ones in your pics, maybe tomorrow. For sure Friday. Good day to tie some jigs til the sprinkler makes up its mind. That box still had some room.

Nice gills, even better when something you made works. Haven't fished purple for gills but now I may have to tie up a few.

Nice gills and rig. Great looking box of Jigs. Good to hear about the water condition in the lake too. Thanks for the ride along. Hope everything with the storm is good for you all.
