I made it back to lake McIntosh this morning but I took five hand tied tungsten bead jigs with me to try out .
Rod was a 6’3” Abu Garcia MB3 Two piece UL rod paired up with a Shimano Soare BB 500spg , loaded with 2# line .
I was wondering what kind of casting distance I was going to get with the hand ties . I was happy to see I was able to get at least the distance I was getting with the mini magnets on the tungsten jigs .
I caught my first fish after about ten casts and was beginning to think I needed to go with the mini TM .
Instead I starting trying a different pattern, color combo with the hand ties .
I caught five medium gills and small shellcrackers in about an hour .
I switched over to a mini TM and was surprised to only caught one tiny gill in several casts .
I guess the fish either weren’t in that location like they had been or weren’t in the mood .
I tied on a handtied jig and caught one more before moving to a new location over by the tre lined bank .
BTW , today seemed hotter than the previous two mornings, probably because there wasn’t any wind .
I struck out with the handtied jig at the new area and switched to a black mini TM on a Tungsten jig.
I had caught six over off the dock and ended up catching seven of the MTM over at the trees .
All were pretty small , but I did see three nice largemouth bass cruising the banks over near the trees . I’m guessing three to five pounders . Thick shouldered bass .
That could have been part of the reason for fewer bites today .
It was good to get out . I’m thankful for every minute I’m able to enjoy what I love so much .
