I usually respool in the spring except if it’s needed sooner
I change mine after about ten trips which is about every three or four weeks. Sunny hot days will weaken line and I think light lines weaken even faster. Also, how often do you retie when you are catching fish? Failing to retie has cost me some big fish over the years and the older I get the lazier I get.

I’m one of the worst for line maintenance. I have mono on my bc reels that is many years old. A failure or two will make me check and remove suspect line but usually on a reel by reel basis. One of my reels that I use a lot started breaking uncharacteristicly so I started pulling line off and testing and lost about 40’ of line. Makes me wonder if I didn’t get into something floating on the surface that compromised the line. No issues on the others. My trolling rigs all need new line, all 8 of em.
Long story short, I don’t change it often enough.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Back when I used US market line I would change it out every few weeks. But I was fishing 3-5 days a week four or five hours on the water. When I started using Varivas line my line changing became far less frequent. But when fishing the polyester line I change it out every 6 weeks or so. It seems that fishing it in the heat of summer degrades it more so than nylon. Of course the Ester line is a very small diameter. As when to retie. If I’m fishing for bluegill, and latch onto a bigger fish I always retie. I will retie after 8 or 9 bluegill. I’ve got some 4# test Varivas on one reel that has been on there for two years. I only use it when chasing larger trout on the river but it has held up well. I just recently changed out some Varivas 3# test after 1.5 years of use. The only reason I changed it was due to tying, retie, breaking off when hung up, and so on. The line had gotten too low on the spool so I just changed it.

I’m a huge fan of fresh line. I usually spool every few trips when using nylon. Braid I’ll keep on for a year or better. Ester never was nor never has been my friend

I usually don't change unless it starts breaking or gets to much memory issues.

Line doesn’t stay long on a reel around me . Unless the reel hasn’t been used in awhile and then it’s subject to getting changed out without ever been used.
I’m constantly changing my mind on what line I like and if I get one one that “ I think “ is better , I’ll change out a dozen in case I want to use a certain reel .
I’m certifiable nuts !

I'm with folks that don't change line out much. Unless the reel I use most....and I know which gets most use. Cheers!
