Default Various lures have been catching panfish

I'm big on using light jigs with soft plastics - especially soft plastic shapes that are unique. Those who target bass with large lures, are lucky to catch less than a dozen fish per outing. The rest of us pannie fanatics can boast over 100 fish days and lunker fish at that! The last three outings have produced over 50 fish per outing and many were caught in shallow water less than 3' deep.

These hot dog shapes have gotten blasted by gills.

Same for this hybrid attaching a Bass Assassin Shad Assassin grub body and attaching it to a curl tail from another grub. The action of the curl tail is tight and whips faster than curl tails of other grubs.

As evertone knows, for their size, the fight is double that of any fish - bar none. I've been getting into schools of them expecting each fish to be much bigger than advertised by the pull on my line and rod bend! Love those little guys!

Thanks Skeetbum and everyone for you kind statements. So nice to share with anglers that appreciate the finer things of fishing.

Today though was an eye opener! Got to the lake and a 15 mph north wind was blowing with waves headed right at me as I was getting ready to launch. Took me 10 min. but I got to a shallow flat pretty much sheltered from the wind. In no time I caught a doz. panfish on spike tail grubs. I wanted to use my chubby curl tail grubs that punkinseeds attack with a passion yesterday, but the fish only nipped at the curl tail today.

Most interesting was going to the other side of the north point and finding an old road bed in shallow water.
Big crappie and sunfish and at 1:30 pm under a bright sun no less!! Stuck with the spike tail, though like most of you I brought a tackle shop with me and decided to up numbers before leaving. Those fish were super aggressive! The final number was only 40 fish - white and yellow perch, crappie and small bass.
