    Default And then today

Was a completely different thing. I went back to my office, kind of, to see if anything was changed from the last time I was there. Still disappointing but I did get a few. It’s been stripped almost clean of fish by persons unknown. I probably won’t go back for a long time cuz I remember how it used to be and I want to keep those memories. As active as the fish were yesterday I knew there should be some movement and enough to keep me busy. Lots of casting with no takers and only a few bumps and pecks. Stop one netted me a couple of the pretty boys but nothing of any remarkable size.

He was little but he was lit up like his big brother I caught yesterday. I was glad to see him. I followed a skiff down the river and he turned in right where I was going to go. I went a little further on and fished about 45 minutes with no real action and decided to heck with it, I’m going where I wanted to go. Turned out the skiff was pitching for some green fish so I eased on by and started fishing. Conditions were good enough but no fish to speak of. Lots of branches and junk made it hard to drop a jig on the bottom and get it back. I had to go after more than usual. A tangle and line broken and some bad words had me retie with a 1” minnow from mule and it was the ticket. A 14” green fish and some small gills finished out the morning. All totaled I got less than ten fish and was gone in my usual three hours. That little minnow makes me want to check out some of the bigger versions he offers. Enjoy my meager pics, just didn’t take many today. I thought the last one was extra cool. A baby sized CNBG with full colors in a little package. Hope you get out and find a few more than I did.

Still sounds like an eventful outing, Skeet. Heck I even go to say just the boat ride around some lake does sound pretty cool to me, for someone who only hikes after fish...lol. My brother used to ask why I don't get a fishing boat. I joked with him it's only worth it in this town if the boat came with 4x4 tires as well.

I know youve gone over your options but I think every one of us needs a boat. As much as we love the outdoors and fishing it's just a given to me. I’ve had a few and one was a glitter missile bass boat that I loved for the ten years I owned it. Things change, including the way we think and what we like to do. Long story real short, I’ve always loved the versatility of an aluminum Jon boat, and that’s what I’ve gone back to. I can take it places the bass boat wouldn’t go, like salt and skinny, and won’t go other places the bigger boat was very comfortable in like trolling big lakes in some wind. I’ve even had canoes. iWork with a guy who also fishes a lot and won 88,000 in a lottery and didn’t buy himself a $2000 boat. Shakin my head! What comes to mind is that I’m glad you’re up to the hike to get to where the fish live. Not a chance on these knees. I actually contemplated a nap today while I was out. Set the spot lock and snooze, can’t get much better. I don’t know about water near Vegas but I’m bettin there ain’t much. You could always move? LOL

Good job Skeetbum. Sure wish I could get my dad's ranger back from my cousin. Kayaks will have to do for now.

I got that Dave. My last canoe taught me my limitations. Agility and stiffness in my lower back told me to sell it before……..

Loading and unloading everything every time wasn’t popular either. I’m spoiled in having everything ready to go and hooking up to be gone in a few minutes.

I hate it when a great spot gets cleaned out by some dope. You have to leave some breeders behind.
