That’s what I was calling a spotted sunfish . State record for Ga is 11oz , I read the state record for Florida was 13oz .

    Edit , I just realized that’s Skeet’s picture . Old Timers setting in .

I’m good with it being for whoever’s interested. The little fellers are cooperative when they’re around but they just don’t get real big. That’s OK by me too. I don’t have to wrestle big fish to be happy and they’re sure pretty.

And chaser, hope the shoulder lays down and lets you get back to the business at hand.

First of all, great trip and way to hammer them! I just got an order of Mule Horseflies and jig heads this week. I have been meaning to try them, but I am having days almost like yours using the Slider 1" Grub on a jig head with a modified jig spinner. Kinda like a beetle spin, but with the Slider grub, and the keeper latch cut off the spinner.

Pesh, it’s a funny thing with these fish I’m fooling with. They won’t hardly touch a rooster tail or beetle spin. Curl tails and regular hand ties get some interest but still not all on board. Now put one of those horseflies down there and don’t reach for your coffee. I powder painted some heads in black, brown and olive. The ranch hand colored horsefly and a brown head just works great. I’m sold on em. If you super glue them the night before they just don’t tear up.

I fish some spots on consecutive days and on some days I can’t get a nibble one one bait , but change to another and Bam! I get a hit on the first cast . The next day they won’t touch that bait but nail the one they wouldn’t touch the day before .
That’s what makes fishing fun .
I stood a bank 30 yards from a couple that moved in on me once and caught one crappie after another , on my flyrod . The couple were floating minnows and couldn’t buy a crappie bite , but did catch a couple of catfish .
I donated about twenty nice slabs to their dinner .

I do get some that look battle worn. Glad y’all enjoy the pics. I sometimes feel like I’m overdoing the pic thing. Some of the little guys have such vivid colors and features like the bigger ones. Gorgeous things they are.
