I wonder if it’s one of those fish that go into a trance when upside down, that thing completely quit moving when it landed that way ?

Never seen that before either. They do go crazy when they hit the wood docks and it must have been a real lively one to land like that. Could be something to the trance thing but never tried it with gills, usually use it with trout and it works with most of them when I turn them belly up.

only once here is my answer .....
the wife dropped it and I said hey hold it still for a picture and as they wrestled, it kept up the fight until it landed like that ,,,,,,and we both just laughed a bit too hard on that one for sure ....
