Default Hot as H*** yesterday but fish bit anyway and on different lure shapes!

All lakes are up over a foot due to torrentail rains. Fish are in deeper water near pads and numbers easy to come by. In fact 69 yesterday. As most of you know, lure variety is the major reason I fish hoping I'll find special shapes and actions I can count on in the future, if not confirm the ones that did well in the past.

Shapes that did good: Softie plastic worm, spike-tail, Berkley Ribbon Tail, carrot stick, and fork-fin tail

There are more, but you get the picture.

My belief when it comes to lures:
Fish don't strike lures because they represent live bait, but because they don't! JMHO
Note the vaious shapes and sizes. Fish pounded those lures all with different actions.

Any lure/prey correlation is the product of angler imagination or the sales dept. and a reduction of lure variety potential to say the least .

I agree that fish a lot of times hit lures out of reasons other than hunger. It would be interesting to know what those reasons are and why it happens.

I don't think we'll find out for sure - but....
Anglers have a choice of using live bait or lures. Lures have the advantage most of the time of finding active fish and their locations in far less time. The other advantage is finding lures that do well most of the time for reasons only god know.

Those above were caught today along with 78 other fish. Various lure shapes/ actions were tried and all caught fish. Some lures were struck 4x by a fish until the fish got hooked. Why?
The right lure size, shapes/actions, retrieive
The last thing that 82 fish were caught on a bright sunny day in 7' near pads - IOW - the right places.

Some mighty small fish were caught on some mighty long lures or on lures with bright whipping curl tails. All I can say is:
LURES PROVOKE strikes; SOME LURES DO IT BETTER.

Find out which and have some fun!
