And floats left on the line seem to throw a few extra twists as well. Figured after over all these years of fishing I would have learned what not to do but still do it. Just takes one float to make a mess so I try to remove them while walking or driving. I can't walk from my truck to the house without getting them tangled.
But in the end, the knots went away and the fish got played. That does look like a genuine mess though. I wrap mine like the bass guys do. You know, pull the line from the tip to the hook holder away from the rod and spin four times or so. Keeps me in more hair as I don t pull it out as I undo said tangles. Kids have to make mistakes before we point them out and teach them how to do it right. It’s part of the learning curve.

It was me that made the mess , the kids handed me all the stuff and I didn’t stow it like normally, in hurry to get down the road syndrome
