Great way to spend a little time
My Queen had a club meeting so I hooked up and ran to the closest ramp about ten minutes away. Destination was my office. Though it’s been picked nearly clean it fit the timing and I said why not. Slow was the word. Went through about half of what I intended to work without a fish. Finally got between a couple of trees and got the thump I’d been waiting for. A little drag music and some circles, and it didn’t feel super big. I was happy to have one on regardless, but even more so when I got him in my hand. Nice little shellcracker that true to form, fought bigger than he was.
Liking the wood like they do, I found two of these guys that could’ve been twins, both nice and stout. Would’ve made good tacos.
But this was what made my smile nice and big. I caught no others and this one was under a tree and didn’t want to come out. A good fight and just a sneeze over the almighty mark. If you could smell that little jig in his mouth, it’s distinctly eau de slab sauce. Might not have gotten any without it. This made the whole trip worth going.
.
75 minutes from ramp to ramp and it couldn’t have been better. Saw the wife walking into her meeting on the way to the ramp, and again as we were both heading home. Perfect timing. Hope y’all get out soon. Til next time……Skeet
