    Default Couple of Crackers

I fished the town pond this morning for about an hour .
Partly cloudy skies with a little wind to deal with , 8-10 with gusts to 18 mph .
I caught a couple of nice shellcrackers , three bass and a small bluegill. All on Trout Magnets .
I used my 6’3” Abu Garcia mass Beat III rod paired with my newest reel acquisition, a Shimano Miravel c2000s spooled with 2# P-line Floroclear.
    I really like the Miravel . It’s a sweet reel .
I like the Abu Garcia rods too , but they’re not the most sensitive rods I’ve fished .
I think it’s got something to do with the length and the solid tip section .
    I wish they made a 5’6” version .

Nice fish!! I love me some crackers! I’m thinking you would like my pink trimmed rod if you could spend a day with it. The 6’ is very close with a softer tip.

    Thanks !
I’ve been spending a few hours in the driveway casting different combos , just to see what will cast the farthest with the same line and lure ; a 1/32 collarless jig head size 8 hook with a Trout Magnet body .
At the moment most everything gets at least 60’ with 2# Pline and a compact 2000 reel .
My 6’ TFO trout and panfish was impressive with almost 75’ .
So was my new model 6’ St Croix Panfish series .
Mainly trying the ones with the shorter handles .
Also noticed , I have four types of 2# Pline and the Floroclear is winning in the line class .

That’s good to know about the line. I’m using mostly pe now but I do have a few with the Varivas twitchmaster which has a lot of good qualities, including visibility. Clear line is tough for me to tie stuff.

I have a 7’ St Croix panfish rod with the miravel reel on it. I cast a seven foot rod better but I’d was leaning hard towards the six foot rod. May have to get a set up for after surgery therapy.
    That’s a really nice cracker!!
