    Default Weekly Meetup 5-30-23

    Something different this week .
My fishing buddy met me at my house today and we took my boat fishing to a local water reservoir. A electric motor only lake of about three hundred acres .
First time my boat has been out since November 2021 .
It was definitely different fishing out of the boat . I’d forgotten what a pain the wind can be , and we had som wind today .
All in all , it was a nice trip .
I caught thirteen fish , including a shellcracker , and a few redbreasts , my buddy caught ten .
Nothing big except for the one that got away . Haha !
Seriously, I hooked a nice bass that went under a submerged tree , and jumped twice before breaking me off . We estimated it to be 5-6 pounds .
I would have loved to have battled that one in open water .
We plan on taking the boat out again soon .
I have two water reservoirs nearby , this one , about ten minutes away . And another of about 800 acres that’s about 15-20 minutes away .
I took three rods but mainly fished with my 6’ Abu Garcia Mass Beat 3 UL paired with my Shimano Nasci C2000s , spooled with two pound P-line Floroclear.
We both mainly used Trout Magnets , except my buddy fished his Roostertail some .
Some healthy , pretty fish .

Congrats on your outing in the boat. Love those redbreast. Not sure Arkansas has them.

    Regards

I’d say that y’all had a successful trip and some nice fish too. 300 acres is just about right for no outboard. I’d like to have heard the story had you landed the big largemouth. I get my drag burned and broken off now and then, always gets my heart rate up. Thanks for the ride.
