Fun catches for sure
Wife and daughter often take out one of our dogs on long walks , they are my recon in some spots and places , taught them what to look for and etc etc .....
They came home the other day with a tale about a rattlesnake park they found ...
I was like right here in ft worth ? They said yes sir and it has a big pond with a "fishing" dock in it too .....
Yesterday was walk the dog day and I said you know what ladies , why don't ya"ll show me that there rattlesnake park and that pond ......
So I grabbed lil red riding in the hood and a few nightcrawlers and a 3 floats with 3 1/32 number 8 jigheads and off we went in the little red car .....
Neverminded the public dock and went to a corner of said water body.
Managed to ketch 33 sunfish from exactly 9:59 am to 10:44 am in that little cove.
Just native bluegill and long ears and none were really big , but to be sure they pulled like they meant it .
At one point I pitched my float to take a photo of the location and on the second click of the canera the float was no more .....
Good stuff for sure , used 2 nightcrawlers total and down the road I went after they all swam away ....

Nice little spot and a real nice catch. Your wife and mini found a good one. Stay on the trail and keep an eye on the dog!

Nice looking panfish, that size pulls pretty good too. Coloration on the Longear's are different here and smaller. Seldom get one over 5".

Most folks go into cardiac arrest at the sight of a real western diamondback in the wild , that area used to be western massasauga heaven back when, not entirely sure if any even reside there is me , but it will keep most of the foot traffic off the environment and that is well worth the signs for sure …

with the water so turbid and silty they seem to be the paler versions of longear,
in clear water with more rocky bottoms they tend to color up much better,
size wise they are not near as big as another spot I used to visit , but pretty decent size for that version of a bream . they can fight well for lil fish for sure
and not much makes a better striper bait hooked thru the lips ....
dont ask me how I know ....

I don't know about striker bait but they sure would coax me to the dinner table.
We used to chase striper using live sunfish, one longear is worth its weight in gold . Bluegill are fairly fragile in deep water and longear not so much .
Besides that , it was typical to see the rod tip dancing with a vibration thing about 2 to 3 seconds before a striper hit it if you had on a longear ….
