Nice, good fish. Thanks for sharing
Tried to wait out the rain this morning, once it slacked a little I drove up to the pond.
I sat in the car for about twenty minutes until the light rain became a drizzle and put on my rain jacket , grabbed my 5’6” Iprimi XXUL paired with a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000d spooled with 3# P-line .
I’d rigged it up with a 1/80 jighead with a Bobby Garland Itty bit Swim’r about 14” over a 1/16 drop shot weight .
Not my typical drop shot outfit , but I wanted to catch a few fish on the Iprimi .
And I did .
In the hour I fished I caught two gills and three bass that put one heck of a bend in the little rod . What a hoot!
The gills I felt bite , the bass would sneak up from behind the jig and my line would just feel heavy . At first I thought I had a ball of moss slime , but when it moved , I’d crank the reel to set the hook .
One of the bass was a pretty good UL bass , a nice XXUL bass.
A fun hour in the drizzle .
Nice catches

Ya rascal , you snuck out on us again, and had a good time doin it! Nice fish for the XXUL. I held a Phoenix blank in my hand today that was rated at 1-5 lb line and I got nervous and put it back. The thing is just tiny. But you know how it is, now that I’ve handled it I’m steady thinking about it. $80 for the blank and I’m thinking it would be slick dressed like the skeleton build I did with the pink trim. I don’t know………..time will tell.

Go for it !
I didn’t like the Iprimi to begin with . I couldn’t figured out how to cast a jig with it . Just didn’t feel right .
But it’s not designed for jig fishing .
Today I found I can have fun with it using it for drop shotting. I’m thinking I could cast a jig and weighted bobber with it too.
It won’t cast light jigs . You have to use enough weight to load up the rod so it flips the cast out .
Would make a great small spinner rod casting 1/16 spinners or small crankbaits .

As you know I have that rod. I keep it for the pure fun factor. That’s some fine catches on that rod! Big congrats…I know that was a ball.

The drop shot is something I’ve never tried but it’s on my radar. I already have a real light 5’ that was well built and is a pleasure in the hand. As you know I get more than my share of surprise fish so I feel more confident with a little more rod in my hand. The 6’6” I recently finished is a no bling lightweight and throws a slip cork like it was designed for it. Handles the fish well too. Most of mine are 2-6lb and cast my tiny favorites well, but now I’m trying some different lines so we’ll see what develops. The weight of that blank interests me, I’m gonna sit on that idea for a while. Also, I ordered the Soare BB and a spool of line last night so I’m just doing the waiting game now with everyone else.
