Default Back to the Pond “part 2”

I made a trip back to our town pond this morning, looking for some gills .
I decided I needed to get near the bottom without getting into the slime and moss .
I decided to go with a drop shot rig using my Daiwa Gekkabijin 55-ul-s, paired with a Daiwa Legalis LT1000s spooled with 3# Pline Floroclear.
I used the shorter rod for its increase in sensitivity.
I love it when a plan comes together.
I caught nine bluegills and a shellcracker , using a 1/80th jighead with a size 10 sickle hook and a Bobby Garland Itty Bit Swim’r in black , about 12-14” above my 1/16oz drop shot weight . This gives me good distance even with the short rod so I can cover more water.
No monsters , but some nice fun size catches .
At least I know they’re still a few gills left in there .

Pond slime time in middle Georgia. Ponds need a lot of management to keep them healthy. Most pond owners have no idea on what and when it needs help.

Town stocked some sterile grass carp , but people caught them and took them home . .
They also installed four aerators and a nice fountain, but the town maintenance guys killed the fountain during Christmas season putting a tree in the middle of the lake . It was nice , and pretty . Not sure how they killed it ,but it hasn’t worked since .
The pond has so much parking lot runoff , I’m not sure much would help . Has seepage from septic tanks in the area too .
Then you add in the goose and dog poop .
That’s why I sanitize my hands when I get back to my vehicle after fishing .
Just have to deal with it.

You did have a good trip! I agree, that’s a great looking rod and the fish don’t look bad either. I caught very little yesterday while NiNo took me to school. Glad you figured em out.
