    Default Solo Creek fishing

My fishing buddy is spending the week with his brothers and a couple of friends at Lake Martin over In Alabama. They meet up once a year and fish four or five days .
I took off solo this morning with a variety of rod/reel combos to a local creek below the old mill dam .
When I got there the deep pool was taken by a group by a group of bait fishermen.
I took a spot just below them and would cast upstream and twitch my Trout Magnet down stream.
Didn’t take long to catch a small little redbreast using my 5’6” UL Abu Garcia Mass Beat casting rod paired with a Zebco Omega Pro Z02 . My version of BFS .
I caught a nice ( for the creek) shellcracker on the casting outfit and lost something that felt a little bigger , before I swapped to a Daiwa Ajing 55UL and Daiwa Fuego Lt1000 combo .
This little rod cast nicely but felt stiff .
Then I remembered I had a 6’3” Abu Garcia MB travel rod in the car , so I put the Daiwa Fuego on the longer rod .
I know I’ve said before , but this is my favorite rod , I have three of them now .
Once I discovered this rod , I felt I needed to have a couple spares in case I broke one , while they are still available.
I could actually do away with all of my other rods and it wouldn’t bother me .
I feel this is the rod I’d been searching for .
I caught a beautiful redbreast before deciding to move to a local reservoir.
Creek fishing takes a toll on terminal tackle and after loosing four or five jigs , I thought it was time to leave .
At the reservoir I caught a couple of small green sunfish and a couple of small warmouth, and a dinky bass , on the 6’3” Abu Garcia MB III .
That’s what I like about this rod , it makes the dinks fun to catch , but will handle a nice fish if I need it to.
Small fish today but some pretty colors on them .

My inner self was screaming at me all day that I needed to be taking advantage the perfect conditions we had here today. Glad you got out and found some peace and quiet and a few fish too. Your day was better than mine.
